Whenever it comes time to pack for a trip, there is always the question that arises of what to pack. Dubai is a cosmopolitan city that is known for shopping, beaches and spas. It truly is a city where ancient meets modern and it can be hard to decide just exactly what you should pack. Below is a guide to help you through the packing process for both summer and winter. Hopefully this will give you some insights into what you should and shouldn’t bring with you on your trip to Dubai.
Summer Packing
Even though Dubai is pretty relaxed when it comes to foreign visitors, it is still a good idea to dress modestly. Keep this in mind when you are deciding what to bring for the beaches, make sure you bring light and loose clothing that will cover your arms and legs. This is especially important if you plan on going to any nice restaurants or into a mosque.
The climate of Dubai in the summer is hot and humid. After all it is a desert city that lies right next to the Persian Gulf. Temperatures can reach well over 100 degrees, so you want to pack clothing that will help to prevent sunburns and will keep you cool in the heat. Some ideas include: hats, sunglasses, sunscreen and a lip chapstick that contains spf. Be sure to also pack some sandals, this keep your feet cool and helps them from burning on the hot sand.
If you plan on spending your days at the beach or the many waterparks around Dubai make sure to pack your swimsuit. Also remember that your clothing should be a light color, avoid packing dark colors as you want something that will reflect the sun, not absorb it.
Winter Packing
From December through about February, it can get a little chilly and cold at night so you wil want to make sure that you pack a light jacket or even a sweater. Women will want to also consider bring a shawl or a pashmina to wrap around you for not only warmth, but also modesty. In the the daytime you will want to pack just how you would pack for summer. Dubai is hot and humid all year round, but the winters do tend to become a bit more mild in temperature.
Other Things to Keep in Mind
Make sure you pack a good pair of walking shoes or hiking boots, there are some great places to hike the Arabian sands in Dubai and you want to make sure you have the proper shoes with you. Also consider bringing a small backpack to bring around with you to hold things like your water bottle or sun umbrella. Also, be sure to stay moisturized! Dubai has a lot of dry air because of the desert, so a good moisturizer is something you may want to bring with you. Also be sure to pack extra things like underwear and socks to avoid having to purchase extra in case you run out.
